The Academy's work spans the full spectrum of information sciences — from fundamental research in informatics and cybernetics to applied technical cooperation, education quality assurance and the building of an inclusive global information society. Our activities are organised around the following core programmes.
Our flagship programme supports research in informatics, cybernetics, automatic control systems, data processing, telecommunications and network technologies. Members study the theoretical foundations of information processes and their practical applications across industry, governance and science.
We facilitate joint research projects, expert exchanges and scientific partnerships among academies, universities and research institutes in Russia, the CIS, Europe and the Americas. The Academy coordinates international working groups and supports the transfer of knowledge and best practices.
The Academy develops methods for testing and evaluating the quality of higher education and scientific research, including rating systems and examination methodologies. Our members have published extensively on the Bologna Process, distance learning and information-communicative pedagogical technologies.
Through our quarterly journal and an active monograph programme, the Academy disseminates peer-reviewed research to the international scientific community. Academy members publish 30–40 books each year, covering ICT theory, management, education and the history of computing.

The Academy carries out international activities across the following countries, with regional branches and departments in Russia and other states.
The Academy receives donations and grants from domestic sources supporting its scientific, educational and publishing programmes.
Membership dues from academicians and corresponding members provide a stable foundation for the Academy's ongoing operations.
Revenue from the sale of scholarly magazines and books contributes to the Academy's financial sustainability.
